Sunset, Dublin Port, South Wall … and Music 3.0

Dublin’s Great South Wall is not somewhere I usually walk, but it was such a beautiful evening last night that, on my way home from speaking at Music 3.0, I took a small detour to watch the sun setting with a busy Dublin Port in the foreground.

Really interesting evening at Music 3.0 (from what I saw of it). The concept is smart. Exchanging ideas and thoughts between industries is a constructive thing to do – kudos to Jim Carroll and First Music Contact’s Angela Dorgan!

Here are a few photos from my walk:

Taken closer to Poolbeg – a heron out looking for dinner …

Hoping this beautiful weather we’re having in Dublin is here for a few more days!

Sunset over Dublin last night

After a fairly overcast day, the evening sky turned out to be quite pretty. Took this from Dalkey Hill.

Final April Sunset of the Year

The sky last night was made up of a collection of red tones as the sun set over Dublin … however so much for shepherd’s delight – it’s raining heavily this morning.

Perhaps the only person happy with the bad weather …

A kitesurfer enjoying the waves and wind this evening off Sandymount Strand, Dublin

Waves crashing near the Forty Foot, Sandycove a short while later

Snapped these on my way home from work this evening – the waves off Sandycove seemed huge!

Be careful out there,

Poolbeg lighthouse this morning

It was dull over much of Dublin but a little sun was coming through the clouds over the sea.

Have a good day,

Sunset, Wicklow, Saturday Part II

I posted a photo late last night of yesterday’s sunset. As I said then:

Being on the east coast of Ireland I don’t get to see too many spectacular sunsets, but this evening I found the perfect spot to see one on a crisp spring evening. It was freezing, practically deserted, perfectly still, quiet and really beautiful. It reminded me of all the Saturdays I spent as a kid flying model gliders with my Dad off the slopes around Kilakee.

I took a lot of photos. Here are a few from the set

And the one I posted last night:

Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday.

Will post more pics tomorrow.

A Friday the 13th Sunrise

The alarm went off way earlier than I needed it to this morning, so I decided to get up and take a look at the sunrise from the Vico Road in Dalkey. It was a beautiful sunrise, which went behind the clouds very fast after it moved up off the horizon. Some of the cloud formations in Ireland right now are fantastic.

Have a nice weekend,

Dusk, three skies

The weather has been April appropriate  - changeable! The skies in the evenings have been stunning and turbulent. Yesterday evening, at the same time, it seemed like there were three different skies.

Sea, sky, ship and Howth

The sunrise got the better of me this morning. But it was a beautiful start to the day in Dublin. The colours in the sky were very pretty.
